About Me

As far as I am concerned, there are two types of people in the world; those who eat to live and those who live to eat. I definitely fall into the latter category, although perhaps the word ‘eat’ should read ‘cook’ as for me it’s as much about the culinary journey as the end result.

The joy of cooking starts for me well before that first delicious mouthful. A fabulous deli, colourful market, the aroma of herbs and spices or just an beautiful cookery book with gorgeous photographs are for me part and parcel of what makes up the whole of a long held passion for wonderful ingredients, interesting recipes and good eating. My experience and knowledge of what works and how to cook it has developed slowly and surely since childhood. Since my first, treasured cookery book ‘My Learn to Cook Book’ which was surely a mainstay of many a seventies child’s kitchen my cookery journey has taken me from what started as a hobby to freelance catering, writing the weekly ‘Tasting’ piece in the Times Newspaper and more recently running successful cookery demonstrations in my kitchen here in Wiltshire.

Food is as much at the centre of my life as ever and I hope you find something you enjoy and will come to cook time and time again. I do not use water baths, pressure cookers, molecular processes or ingredients that you cannot find easily in at least a well stocked supermarket. These recipes are for the home cook who wants good food, simply prepared but with no compromise on flavour and presentation.
